Today the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon had a working meeting with Mr. Brock Bierman, the USAID Deputy Administrator for Europe and Eurasia.
The Head of State highly appreciated the firm support and USAID’s opening to relaunch a multidimensional assistance for the Republic of Moldova, also expressed by the decision to increase financing for a democratic governance and economic growth in the Republic of Moldova in the amount of USD 29 million.
Igor Dodon highlighted the USAID’s role as of a promoter of democratic values, sustainable development, supporter of market economy as well as its active involvement in the development of the Republic of Moldova and its strengthening as of a regional player.
The President also mentioned that USAID’s projects in Moldova in areas such as mass-media, energetics, infrastructure, civil society etc. were appreciated and that we relied on future support and valuable technical assistance offered by this important organization.
In concluding the meeting, the Head of State stressed that, once the new governmental coalition had been formed, the civil society was waiting for changes for the better in our country. Igor Dodon marked that the new government could meet these expectations only in case if it had external partners’ support.
